Sedimentation

Sediment traps will be used at the following locations during dredging and reclamation activities, in accordance with EIA requirements.

Sediment traps provide an estimate of sediment particles settling from the water column at a specific location within a known time period. The sediment traps are collected every two weeks for analysis.

Notes: (1) For the monitoring sites marked in yellow, two sites will be monitored at a time during reclamation works. (2) The project is expected to be carried out simultaneously with the Malé to Thilafushi Link Construction works, hence some of the monitoring sites (T-4, T-6 and T-10) may not be safely accessible for monitoring.
